Department of Chemistry was established in March, 2012. The department has grown with strong interests in the Physical Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. Apart from above mentioned courses in syllabus as per CBCS there are various other courses which our students can opt in their graduation as skill Enhancement courses which are as follows:

1.     Green Chemistry

2.     Polymer Chemistry

3.     Instrumental Methods of Chemical Analysis

4.     Material Chemistry

5.     Chemistry of Cosmetics and Perfumes

6.     Basic Analytical Chemistry

7.     Multi-Disciplinary Chemistry Food Adulteration

Chemistry puts you at the heart of science, and Chemistry graduates are in demand by some of the most successful industries in India. Chemistry is often referred to as the ‘central science’ because an understanding of materials at a molecular level underpins research and development from Biology to Solid State Physics. Modern chemical research is a creative activity involving techniques across this wide range of science to actively design and synthesize molecules and materials, and determine their properties. A degree in Chemistry makes you highly employable, not only does it provide you with quantitative and practical skills for scientific and technical roles, but it also develops your transferable skills such as problem-solving that are valued by all employers. After graduation, student can get enrolled in PG courses such as M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, etc. The Department of Chemistry has well equipped laboratories with required chemicals for conducting regular practical activities. These labs are also equipped with instruments like conductivity meters, pH meters, colorimeter, centrifuge machines, digital balances etc. The Department of Chemistry has recorded consistent improvement in its academic performance. The curriculum is taught by a distinguished faculty with dedication and commitment. We believe that our teaching-learning approach, coupled with practical experience, equips our students to handle the challenges that are surely on their way to higher education and professional life. I am confident that you will find our students worthy of your organization.

Vision and Mission of the Department:

  • The Chemistry Department vision is to graduate distinguished chemists in knowledge and various skills as well as to attain a regional prestigious rank in higher education and community service.
  • The Chemistry Department provides rigorous preparation of students whose career path require expertise in chemistry.
  • We decided to excel and explore standards for content knowledge, communication skills, education quality and professional behaviour.
  • We are committed to demonstrative science as a human endeavour and as a way to understand natural world.

The faculty in the Chemistry Department see themselves as a resource for our College, region and state.
